Saltillo- Mrs. Mary Robin Dalton Stokes, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born on May 12, 1949 in Greenville, MS. She was the daughter of the late Robert Dalton and Martha "Tootsie" Dalton. A graduate of Corinth High School, Robin continued her education at the University of Mississippi, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in education. Her passion for teaching blossomed early, and she dedicated many years to enlightening young minds. She started her career at Biggersville Schools in Corinth before moving to Oxford, where she taught kindergarten at Coffeeville Elementary. It was here that she touched the lives of countless students and left a lasting mark on the community before retiring. In 2008, Robin moved to Saltillo to be closer to her family, where she remained a source of love and support for her children and grandchildren who affectionately knew her as "Baba". Her family was her pride and joy, and her heart was as vast as her kindness. Robin was known not only for her passion for education but also for her loving caring spirit. She had a deep love for music, often singing along to her favorite Elvis and country tunes. Her enthusiasm for life extended to her love for investigative TV shows, especially "Will Trent." A natural entertainer, Robin was outgoing and had a wonderful sense of humor, always ready to share a laugh or offer a kind word. A devoted animal lover, she cherished her dogs and cats. She will be missed by all of those that knew her.
She is survived by her son, Clinton "Clint" Fuqua of Saltillo;daughter, Martha "Marti" Neaves and son-in-law Mark Neaves of Guntown; sister, Marie "Cricket" Austin and Dr. Robert Austin of Penscacola, FL; grandson, Riley Neaves of Guntown; granddaughter, Emma Kay Neaves of Guntown; as well as her special friends and neighbors, Leon and Nancy Williams of Saltillo.
Services will be private to the family. Mt. Vernon Chapel is honored to be assisting the family during this time.
