Tupelo- Percy Dale Garner, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and good friend to those he met along his life's journey, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Morton, MS on March 21, 1943 to TB and Loye Beatrice (Jones) Garner. He led by example by his tender way of expression. Percy loved his Lord and Savior and was saved at the young age of 7. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. After losing his dad at age 15, he gained a wonderful stepfather, Odis Harrelson. Having served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964, he always counted it a divine privilege to serve his country and to be part of protecting our nation. While serving in the US Navy Percy met and married his loving wife Pamela, and the two of them shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed with four amazing children that are the loves of their lives. After the Navy, he was co-owner of Hogan and Sons Roofing Company in San Diego, CA along with his father-in-law Gorman P. Hogan, before moving home to Tupelo, MS in 1977. His working days thereafter were for Wicks Lumber, Planters Lumber, Tupelo Lumber, Saltillo Building Supply, Triangle Distributors, as well as co-founder of Garner Millwork and Cabinet. He was a craftsman in his field of millwork leaving behind many years of custom-made works of art. He loved riding motorcycles and was the owner and operator of Tupelo Motorcycle Academy, where he taught many students the proper way of riding motorcycles safely along with his fellow instructors, Jim Jennings and Ottis Anderson. He was a life member of Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Eagle Wings Motorcycle Association. Percy served as a church deacon in California and Mississippi and also had the privilege of helping build Tri-County Baptist Church with his cherished sons and friends. He was a member of Belden Baptist Church. He fought with tremendous strength and courage through many diseases over the past 10 years with great dignity. During this time, he had the privilege of having Dr Brad Scott as his doctor.

Services will be held at 2PM on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Mt. Vernon Chapel with his cherished friend, Jimmy Hitt honoring him by conducting the service, along with Charles Lipe. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time Sunday only. Burial with military honors will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Mt. Vernon Chapel is honored to be assisting the family during this time.

He leaves behind a legacy of memories including his wife, Pamela Jane (Hogan)Garner; children; Dwayne Garner (Antonia) and their family, Tacy Richey (Mike) and their family, Eric Garner (Susan) and their family; 6 grandchildren that will serve him for the last time as his pallbearers; and 13 great grandchildren. All of his grandchildren were the apples of his eye. He also leaves behind his sisters, Ettie Zelle Pittman (Earl) and their family, Devota Ann Edmondson (Dale)and their family, and his beloved niece Theresa Maylin (Bill) and their family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, and his son, Derrick Garner.
