Tupelo- James E. "Jim" Todd, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on September 19, 1934 in Pontotoc to the late Thurman and Violet Todd. Jim began his career in Tupelo as a bookkeeper for CMJ Motors. He then met and married his beloved wife, Virginia Coker. Jim then played baseball for Delta State University before being drafted and serving in the US Army. He enjoyed being stationed in Germany and talked fondly about being in the same unit as Elvis. After returning home he started an auto body repair shop on Gun Club Road in West Tupelo. He later went on to retire from the US Postal Service as a rural postal carrier. Jim was an avid hunter, enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to talk about hunting. He traveled to Colorado annually for more than 40 years to hunt elk and deer. He attended the Orchard Church in Tupelo and frequently visited the Veteran's Home in Oxford to spend time with fellow veterans. He also worked cattle throughout most of his life, finding great joy in the simplicity and beauty of ranching, even during his retirement. Jim will be missed by all of those that knew and loved him.
